Safety For Managers & Supervisors
Aimed at.
This is a four day course aimed at all managers and supervisors. It is suitable for managers that have never received any health and safety training or as refresher to anyone who has received health and safety training in the past.
The course covers any sector of industry although in house specific courses have been delivered for the oil and logistics sectors.

Benefits.
Managers and supervisors will be given a good understanding of the importance of health and safety in their roles. This includes legal duties from both criminal and civil law perspectives. The course makes managers think more proactively about safety and trying to solve issues before they manifest themselves as incidents and accidents.
Course Content
  • The legal, moral and economic reasons for managing safety; why safety should be managed.
  • Health and safety law; the legal basis of health and safety. Civil and criminal legal systems and significant legislation such as The health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Risk assessment and control; defining hazard and risk. How to carry out risk assessments. The importance of control measures and informing employees the contents of risk assessments.
  • Accident investigation; how to investigate accidents, collection evidence, using root cause analysis tools and making recommendations.
  • Active and reactive monitoring; techniques for measuring safety such as lagging indicators. This includes lost time injuries. Proactive measures for montoring safety including audit and inspection.
  • Safety culture; what is safety culture, how can it be measured and how to improve it. This section includes the delegates using a tool to look at the safety culture of their organisation.
  • Workplace safety; safety of workplaces and work equipment.
  • Reviewing safety ; safety meetings and reviews
